Lights, Camera, Action!!!
On Tuesday 2 Feb 2010, Sigatoka River Safari who was a corporate sponsor for the Bula Fiji Tennis Competition hosted four Hollywood stars on the Safari.
Arriving at our departure point we were all amazed at how down to earth all of them were.
Tatyana Ali (Fresh Prince of Bel Air, RnB singer), Tyler Williams (Everybody Hates Chris), Nia Long (Are We There Yet, Friday, The Best Man) and Kimberly Elise (Beloved, Bait, The Great Debaters, Set it Off) were all smiles on their arrival.
After some quick group photos and a safety drill, we were off on safari. Two boats full heading up the majestic Sigatoka River to our designated village of Sautabu.
All on board were captivated by their journey upriver and by the stories told to them.
After a 45min trip to the village, it was time to meet the locals and what a great way for our guests to truly understand Fijian life by spending time in the Fijian interior.
It was obvious early on that they all were truly touched by the hospitality and warmth of the people of Sautabu.
During their introductions Kimberly Elise said to the villagers that she truly felt like she had "come home" which had many in the party nodding their head in agreement.
All four of the stars enjoyed a bowl of yaqona and even Nia's 9 year old son asked for a small bowl to taste.
It was then after the traditional ceremony was over the crew got to have a look around the village, ask questions and see first hand what life is all about in a Fijian village.
Then it was time for lunch and all commented how much they enjoyed the food in the village. Fresh fruits from the farm, freshly cooked lovo for all to taste.
After enjoying the food it was time to dance off the lunch and before long the villagers had the guests up on their feet doing a little taralala. Smiles all around and before we knew it, it was time to head back down river.
Spinning and splashing our way back down river had everyone screaming for more.
When asked at the base what they thought, all said they loved the experience and would be looking forward to coming back to Fiji!!
From all your friends here at Sigatoka River Safari.. You are always welcome, ANYTIME!!!
